MicroRead®/SecuRead®

Overview

The MicroRead chipset is a NFC controller solution developed by Inside Secure. Click here for more information on this product. The SecuRead is a combined solution integrating the MicroRead with an embedded Secure Element (eSE), allowing secure applications for NFC independently of a UICC (SIM card).

The Open NFC stack, although designed to be hardware-independent, is primarily tested with this hardware from Inside Secure; therefore it is recommended to use this hardware with the Open NFC software stack, as being the most stable and maintained implementation.

The Open NFC HAL for MicroRead release contains the source code of the NFC HAL module for supporting the MicroRead / SecuRead chipsets. Please note that porting files for this NFC HAL module are included in the different porting editions (e.g., Win32 and Linux).

If you are interested in integrating this hardware in your platform, please contact Inside Secure for more information.

If you are interested in a NFC development kit embedding a MicroRead or SecuRead solution, please check this page.

For more information about the NFC HAL for MicroRead module, please refer to the documents included in the Open NFC HAL for MicroRead release, in particular:

You can get additional information on this NFC HAL module on the Features, Requirement, and Firmware pages.

New release: Open NFC 4.3 (build 10877)

We are proud to release the version 4.3 of the Open NFC Core stack today.

The main features of this new release are:

You can find the complete list of changes in the Release Notes document included in the archive.

Warning: Because of the new features listed above,  the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) interface had to be changed. The new Open NFC cannot be used with older lower-layer implementations. It means in particular that:

  1. If you are using a MicroRead NFC controler, Open NFC 4.3 requires a firmware version of at least 7.13, and loader at least 7.09. The stack cannot be used with an older firmware (it will give a NO FIRMWARE error state when attempted). Note that the reverse is also not possible (newer firmware with older stack).
  2. If you are using the NFC Simulator tool provided in the Core Edition, you must use the simulator provided with your version of Open NFC, since the interface version also has changed in the simulator.

The files can be downloaded from Sourceforge server. Click here for more information.

Support questions should be directed to the new project’s mailing-list: open-nfc-help@lists.sourceforge.net

Thanks!
